February 2022 Wine Guide
The shortest month of the year is always overflowing with all of the things. From the celebration of Black History Month and the Super Bowl to Valentine’s Day and the start of awards season, February is typically gone with the blink of an eye.
Being a writer who focuses on wine, I’m often asked: “What wine pairs well with this dish?” or “What would be a great wine for this event?” So to help answer all of those questions in one fell swoop, I’ve created a monthly wine guide for you to explore a plethora of wines that will surely please your palate. The guide will drop the second Thursday of every month and will be basically a compilation of the “greatest hits” you should drink all month long.
Without delay, here are February’s selections to help you celebrate successfully. Cheers!
SUPER BOWL SUNDAY
I’m not a huge football fan, but I’m always enamored by the pomp and circumstance of the Super Bowl. We Americans truly do THEE absolute most to watch some men run up and down a field with a football. At any rate, if you are hosting a Super Bowl watching party with friends and family, I recommend keeping the wine selections light and fun. There’s going to be a ton of dips and chips and wings and things with cheeses, so the wines have to be as versatile as possible.
FEBRUARY 14
However you decide to celebrate this Hallmark card holiday, all I ask is that you sip on something delicious, okay? Whether you are boo’d up or hanging with your gal pals, these wines (IMHO) exemplify what I think love should taste like: effervescent, sensual, comforting, and–dare I say–even a little mysterious.
BLACK HISTORY MONTH
“Hey Google, play “BLACK PARADE” by Beyoncé.” While it is strongly encouraged to always support Black businesses, I think during February it is especially imperative to drink Black-owned wine labels. Each of these brands has a unique story, and I’ve had the opportunity to speak with and be inspired by all of these winemakers over the last several years. These are brands you may be familiar with, or might be learning of for the first time, so make sure you visit their websites to learn more!
