Hi! I’m Chasity.

Think of me as your bougie, wine-loving cousin who does her best to put you on to the most delicious wines out there.

Let’s toast it up!

Last Friday night, I gathered a few of my good girlfriends for a night of laughs, snacks and wine making.

Now I know you’re probably wondering: how in the world did you make wine in your Brooklyn apartment?!

Well, thanks to the good folks at Blendtique Wine Company it was possible - and so much fun! For starters, they sent me a ‘Custom Blending Kit’, complete with of materials that we would need to make our own creations: bottles of four different varietals: Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot, as well as a Erlenmeyer flask and mouth pipette to help with accurate measurements. I won’t even front - the ladies took one look at the beaker and pipette and definitely thought I was taking them right back to our days of high school chemistry. But the Custom Blending Kit came with very straight forward instructions for how we were to blend and experiment with our own yummy concoctions.

What I loved most about this experience was that it gave me an opportunity to practice my wine education, share with my friends fun facts about each of the varietals, and to learn more about their own personal tastes.

The directions encourage you to choose one of the four varietals to serve as your base, and then to add small increments of the other wines to create something special.

After sampling each of the four wines by themselves, we choose Cabernet Sauvignon as our first base (50%) and then added 25% of Merlot and 25% of Syrah. After a quick whirl in the beaker and a quick sip, we all agreed that this was a great blend. It gave us a full mouth feel, but wasn’t incredibly over powering . It had the right amount of sweetness but didn’t completely take the life out of our taste buds. A favorite, for sure!

And since we were listening to Megan Thee Stallion’s mixtape “Fever”, we took the liberty of naming our three combinations after our favorite songs. Take a look at what we created below:

”In His Bag Too” (OUR FAVORITE)

  • Cabernet Sauvignon - 50%

  • Merlot - 25%

  • Syrah - 25%

“WAB”

  • Merlot - 85%

  • Syrah - 15%

“Realer”

  • Cabernet Sauvignon - 50%

  • Merlot - 25%

  • Syrah - 15%

  • Grenache - 10%

Overall, I would definitely suggest this activity for a small group of people so that you can divide the wines evenly, have a chance to try different combinations and of course, enjoy the left over wines.
