Hi! I’m Chasity.

Think of me as your bougie, wine-loving cousin who does her best to put you on to the most delicious wines out there.

Let’s toast it up!

Wine for Movie Night at the Crib (Episode One Notes)

Wine for Movie Night at the Crib (Episode One Notes)

Happy Spring, family!

Since The ‘Rona has got us locked up in the crib until further notice, I thought it would be a cute idea to share with you all my wine knowledge in a weekly video series called “Thirsty Thursday” on IGTV.

The category for this episode, the category is MOVIE NIGHT AT THE CRIB, and I provide suggestions on snacks (and Netflix shows/films) to pair with the wines. This week, I tasted two wines – a Sauvignon Blanc and a Pinot Noir – that are not only affordable, but delicious.

Peep the full notes below, and make sure you watch the full video on my Instagram page here.

Oh! And if you’d like to purchase the wine glasses that I use, check out Drinking In Style, LLC.

Cheers!

WINE #1 - SAUVIGNON BLANC - 2019 Picton Bay ($6.99 at Trader Joe’s)

  • Quick facts - this wine is from Marlborough, New Zealand, which has a cool to moderate and is pretty well known for its Sauvignon Blanc

  • For those of you who like white wines but are trying to explore more than just sweet white wine (no shade, of course) this is a good primer because light in body, fruity and crisp. When we’re able to go outside and play again, this will be the PERFECT PORCH POUDER

  • You also want to make sure you serve this wine chilled, but not ice cold.

  • Because this wine is tart, acidity with a hint of sweetness, you’ll want snacks that can cut through that. If cheese is your jam, a creamy goat cheese schmeared on a baguette or cheddar cheese and some crackers would BE BOMB. Microwave popcorn or some good old Lays potato chips are both salty and delicious, and would pair perfectly with this Sauvignon Blanc as you watch Beyonce’s EPIC Homecoming concert or a few episodes of Friends from College on Netflix.

WINE #2 - PINOT NOIR - 2017 Firefly Ridge ($8.99 at Jewel-Osco)

  • Quick facts - This Pinot Noir is from California’s Central Coast (think The Bay Area), and it is a relatively young wine

  • I picked this up from my local grocery store - shout out to Jewel-Osco for about nine dollars

  • For those of you who are leery about red wines, Pinot Noir is the best intro wine into the red family. Why? Because it’s got ripe, bright red fruit flavor (think strawberry, cherry) with a hint of spice. It’s not too dry and it goes with almost everything

  • This wine is best to be served at room temperature, but you’re welcome to put a little chill on it if you’d like

  • This Pinot Noir goes with all of the meats: salami, prosciutto and pepperoni. If you’re ordering a pizza to nosh on, make it pepperoni or Meat Lover’s while you watch something dramatic like PANDEMIC or To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (parts one and two)
